Services and Applications

The DEIMOS group has strong expertise in the development of Earth Observation products and services for various sectors. The main areas focus disaster monitoring, natural resources and environmental monitoring.

For disaster monitoring, products include fire risk maps (with several thematic layers including NDVI, meteo data, etc.) forest fire monitoring (using MSG data) and flood monitoring.

Agriculture and Forest represent the main target of natural resources monitoring. For agriculture, services are developed in the area of precision farming and include crop monitoring reports (with biomass indexes, LAI, etc.), irrigation needs and drought monitoring; on the other hand, land use maps, burned area mapping and assessing and reforestation monitoring are part of the forest management services portfolio. Other applications in the area of the Environment include oil spill detection and monitoring and ship detection and monitoring.

DEIMOS Engenharia is also developing other projects within ESA Earth Observation programmes, like for example AQUAPATH SOIL and DESERTWATCH.
